LaDainian Tomlinson is a former American professional football player who has an estimated net worth of $36 million.
LaDainian Tomlinson started his football career as a linebacker for the University High School's football team. He amassed 2,554 yards and 39 touchdowns during his senior year for the team. Then, he earned honors as District 25-4A Most Valuable Player and Super Centex Offensive Player of the Year.
He accepted an athletic scholarship at Texas Christian University and played for the TCU Horned Frogs from 1997 to 2000. Tomlinson received the Doak Walker Award and a finalist for the Heisman in 2000.
During the 2001 NFL Draft, Tomlinson was selected as the first round, 5th overall pick by the San Diego Chargers. He was hailed as the Walter Payton Man of the Year, AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and AP NFL MVP in 2006. After eight seasons with the team, he became a free agent and signed a two-year contract with New York Jets.
He signed a ceremonial contract with San Diego Chargers on June 18, 2012 and immediately announced his retirement.
