Jordan Cameron played for Newbury Park High School's football team. He made it to the All-Marmonte League first-team in 2004 and 2005. During his senior year, he did 73 passes for 1,022 yards, and 12 touchdowns.

In college, he moved from Brigham Young University to the University of Southern California. Cameron was redshirted during his freshman year. When USC refused to accept his academic credits from Brigham, he withdrew from the team, and attended Ventura College, instead. He rejoined the Trojans in 2008, and ended his final season with 16 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.

Cameron was the 102nd overall pick of the Cleveland Browns during the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. On March 12, 2015, he signed a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins.
