Devin McCourty started his career when he attended Saint Joseph Regional High School and played as a cornerback and free safety. He was named to the all-league selection and was rated as a two-star recruit by the Rivals.com.
In college, he played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team in 2005. During the first year, McCourty was redshirted, and he appeared in 13 games, making a total of 38 tackles and two interceptions. With a career high of 80 tackles and 10 pass deflections, he was named to All-Big East first team.
During the NFL Draft in 2010, McCourty was chosen by the New England Patriots in the first round, 27th overall. He was hailed as Sporting News' First Team All-Pro, and The Associated Press' Second Team All-Pro.
Devin McCourty was born on August 13, 1987, in Nyack, New York. He graduated from Rutgers University, as he took up bachelor's degree in sociology. He has a twin brother, Jason who currently plays as the Tennessee Titans' cornerback.
