During his senior year with the team, he contributed 379 out of 522 passes made for 4, 328 yards in 12 games.  He was hailed as Player of the Year and first-team All-Big 12 Quarterback in 2010.

He was chosen by the Cleveland Browns as the first round, 22nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. After two seasons with the Browns, he signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
