Anthony Barr started his career as a letterman for track and football for Loyola High School. He was a part of the All-State selection who rushed for 1,890 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior.

In college, he joined the UCLA Bruins football team. During the 2013 season, Barr did contributed 62 tackles, 20 for a loss and has five forced fumbles. He received the Lott IMPACT Award.
