Alshon Jeffery started his career with Calhoun County High School's football team as defensive back. He was named first-team All State and recorded 35 passes for 740 yards, and 14 touchdowns as a senior.

In 2009, he joined the South Carolina Gamecocks college football team. Jeffery was recognized as Capital One Bowl MVP in 2012. Also, he was named to the First-team All-SEC in 2010, and Second-team All-SEC in 2011.
