Right after his graduation from high school, Tracy McGrady was selected as the 9th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors on the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft. Three years later, he started playing for the Orlando Magic together with Grant Hill. In June 2004, he was part of the seven-player trade deal between the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets.
McGrady played for the Rockets until 2010. In February 2010, he was again traded to the New York Knicks where he played for one year. In August 2010, he signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Pistons but before the year ended, he returned to the Houston Rockets. In December 2011, he signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks but in October 2012, he agreed on a one-year deal with the Qingdao Eagles of the Chinese Basketball Association.
