A native of Israel, Omri Casspi is a professional basketball player who played for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association. He joined the NBA when he was selected by the Sacramento Kings as the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft. He is actually the first Israeli to be selected in the first round of the draft.

In June 2011, together with a first-round pick, Casspi was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for J.J. Hickson who played the center and forward positions.

In February 2017, DeMarcus Cousins along with Omri Casspi got traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Langston Galloway, Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, as wells as the first and second-round draft pick of the year. Casspi broke his right thumb after he scored 12 points in the 129-99 loss against the Houston Rockets. On February 25, he got waived by the Pelicans after getting ruled out for approximately five weeks.

Casspi signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves in March 2017. In July 2017, he signed with the Golden State Warriors. He was able to post his 17th career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a 112-97 win against the Dallas Mavericks. He then posted a season-high 19 points and 10 rebounds in a win against the Phoenix Suns. However, since he was injured, the Warriors waived him to make room for Quinn Cook who was on their playoff roster.

He eventually signed with the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2018-19 season. However, he suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee and needed surgery. Because of this, the Grizzlies waived him on February 7.

Casspi eventually played for the Maccabi Tel Aviv and signed a three-year deal with the team after playing with the NBA for ten seasons.
