Michael "Mike" Bibby was born on May 13, 1978 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA. Prior to being drafted into the NBA, Bibby played college basketball at the University of Arizona. While attending the university, he was selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies as a first round (second overall) pick at the 1998 NBA Draft.

In June 2001, Bibby was sent to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Nick Anderson and Jason Williams. On his first season with the Sacramento Kings, he collaborated with Chris Webber which made them one of the best duos in the league.

In February 2008, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for a 2008 second-round draft pick, Lorenzen Wright, Tyronn Lue, Shelden Williams, and Anthony Johnson. In July 2009, the Hawks offered him a three-year, $18 million contract.

In February 2011, along with Maurice Evans, Jordan Crawford, and a first round pick in the 2011 NBA draft, Bibby was sent to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Hilton Armstrong and Kirk Hinrich.

In December 2011, the New York Knicks signed him to a one-year contract.
