Julius Erving joined the NBA when he was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks as its 12th overall pick in the first round of the 1972 NBA Draft. From 1971-1973, he played for the Virginia Squires of the ABA and from 1973 to 1976, he played for the New York Nets still of ABA. From 1976 to 1987, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers.
