During the first round of the NBA Draft in 2007, Javaris Crittenton was the 19th pick of the Los Angeles Lakers. On April 2, 2008, Crittenton played for Memphis Grizzlies which won over the New York Knicks in a 130-114 score.
He also played for the Washington Wizards but was suspended in 2010 by David Stern, the NBA commissioner, after pleading guilty for an incident in 2009 Christmas Eve. It was reported that Javaris Crittenton and his teammate, Gilbert Arenas, drew guns on each other due to an intense argument about gambling debts. Arenas was able to re-join the team while Crittenton has never played for the team since then. In September 2010, he signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Charlotte Bobcats which released him after three weeks. He also played for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions and Dakota Wizards.
In August 2011, he was involved in the murder case of Jillian Jones. Police believed that Jones was mistaken by Crittenton for someone who robbed him in April 2011. Crittenton denied any involvement in the case.
