Retired American professional basketball player and coach Avery Johnson has an estimated net worth of $30.5 million.
Avery Johnson started playing basketball with St. Augustine High School in New Orleans. He led the team in winning the Class 4A Louisiana State Championship. Later on, he attended several schools in college such as New Mexico Junior College and Cameron University. When he went to the Southern University, he created 13.3 assists per game.
Upon finishing his studies, he wasn't selected for the NBA Draft. Instead, Johnson joined the United States Baskeball League's Palm Beach Stingrays. While with the team, Seattle SuperSonics signed him up to play.
He did several stints with other NBA teams such as San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, and Dallas Mavericks. Johnson retired from playing basketball on October 28, 2004. He was immediately signed up as an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks.
Johnson named as NBA Coach of the Month in April 2005, just one month he became the head coach of the team. With his exemplinary goal to reach Mavericks to the playoffs several time, he received the 2006 NBA Coach of the Year award. In 2010, he was hired as head coach for New Jersey Nets. Aside from coaching, he became studio analyst for ESPN.
Avery Johnson was born on March 25, 1965 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is married to Cassandra and has two children.
