Thiago Silva is a Brazilian mixed martial artist for UFC.

Thiago Silva started out as an amateur fighter in Brazil. He won nine fights in which seven of them by KO or TKO and one by submission. In 2006, he joined the Fury FC 2 Grand Prix and hailed as the winner of the said fight.

He made his UFC debut when he faced former WEC Heavyweight Champion James Irvin during the UFC 71 and won by TKO. Then, he did numerous bouts against the best fighters on UFC such as Rashad Evans, Keith Jardine, Brandon Vera and Antonio Mendes, among others.

Controversies arised as Silva cheated on the drug testing during the UFC 125 as he used urine adulterant when he submitted the sample. He was handed a one-year suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Then, on November 21, 2012, he was tested positive for marijuana metabolites and got suspended for six months.

He was released from UFC on February 6, 2014 by UFC President Dana White, as Silva allegedly threatened to shoot at least 25 people. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and non-violently resisting an officer.

Thiago Anderson Ramos de Silva was born on November 12, 1982 in Sao Carlos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
