Mark Hominick made his UFC debut when he defeated former top lightweight Yves Edwards during the UFC 58. After his brief stint with the UFC, he moved to World Extreme Cagefighting. He lost his first two WEC bouts against Rani Yahya and Josh Grispi.
On October 2010, WEC merged with UFC and all fighters were transferred to the said promotion. During the UFC Fight Night 23, he faced his former training partner, George Roop. Hominick also fought with other contenders such as Jose Aldo, Chan Sung Jung, Eddie Yagin, and Pablo Garza. He announced his retirement on December 11, 2012.
