BJ Penn originally known as Jay Dee Penn is an American mixed martial artist and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. His current estimated net worth stands at $22 million.

BJ as he is referred to often competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the only non-Brazilian to actually win the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. He is a black belt. In mixed martial arts, he has competed in many categories, namely lightweight, welterweight, middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. He prides in being only the second fighter to have managed to win titles in two different weight classes – Penn is the UFC Lightweight Champion and also the UFC Welterweight Champion.

Penn remained undefeated for over 8 years as he broke several UFC Lightweight division records. He is famous for his interest to fight the best and the most talented individuals. He simply loves competition. The audience obviously loves it too. BJ has fought in several different divisions, he has fought in 11 UFC lightweight and welterweight championships. Dana White, the President of UFC feels that Penn has contributed greatly to making the UFC so popular.

Jay Dee Penn has some other nicknames too, such as The Prodigy, and Baby Jay. BJ is actually the shortened version of Baby Jay. Jay Dee is the youngest of four brothers. Interestingly, Penn’s father named three of his four children as Jay Dee to avoid confusion, they were called, Jay, Jay Dee and Baby Jay.

Penn was trained by Rudy Valentino, he has travelled to most of Korea as his mother Korean. Penn has a stable girlfriend, Shealen Uaiwa. With her, BJ has two daughters – Aeva Lili’u and Kulia. They were born in 2008 and 2012.
