Benson Henderson started his career when he joined the Decatur High School's wrestling team.

In college, he was twice named NAIA All-American during his stint as a member of Dana College's wrestling team. As he emerged into a professional wrestler in 2006, Henderson competed in World Extreme Cagefighting and Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In 2010, he won the WEC 48, as he defeated in a rematch against Donald Cerrone. He was hailed as Fighter of the Year by ESPN and Inside MMA in 2012.

Benson Henderson was born on November 16, 1983 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is married to Maria Magana.  He graduated from Dana College, with a double major in criminal justice and sociology.
