As an amateur Racer, Windham has won 18 consecutive races at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch in the early 90's. He also won his seventh and eighth amateur titles at the 1994 AMA Amateur and Youth National Motocross Championships. When he turned pro, he was not as successful as his amateur years. He is considered as one of the best drivers ever but he has never won a National Championship. However, he is a consistent second placer.

Currently, Kevin Windham races for Geico Powersports Honda on bike #14. He is on his 19th season as a pro racer in 2012. However, while racing on the Final Lap during the Heat of Round 13 in Houston and battling with James Stewart Jr., he crashed hard and suffered several injuries.
