James Stewart Jr. was born on December 21, 1985 in Bartow, Florida. Bubba Stewart had his first motorcross competition at age four. Before he reached the age of 16, he had already won a total of 84 Amateur national titles. In 2002, he was named as the AMA Rookie of the Year. In Teen People magazine April 2003 issue, his name was elected into one of "20 Teens Who Will Change the World."

James Bubba Stewart has participated and won in several world finals which include the2006 FIM World Supercross Grand Prix Championship, 2007 FIM World Supercross Grand Prix Championship, 2006 Motocross of Nations Championship, 2008 Motocross of Nations Championship and 2009 FIM World Supercross Champion.
