Wayne Gretzky is known to spend two decades of his career, from 1979 to 1999, as a professional hockey player for the National Hockey League. Throughout his 20-year hockey career, Gretzky has played with four teams. Currently considered as the leading scorer in the history of NHL, Gretzky is named by NHL, players and many sportswriter as the greatest hockey player.
He has played with the Indianapolis Racers and the Edmonton Oilers for the World Hockey Association (WHA). He has also played with the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers for the National Hockey League.
He officially retired from the NHL in 1999 and shortly, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
