About Vincent Lecavalier

Vincent Lecavalier is a Canadian professional ice hockey player which has an estimated net worth of $45 million. Vincent Lecavalier’s hockey career began with the Rimouski Océanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

In his first season with the Océanic, he won the Michel Bergeron Trophy as the QMJHL’s top rookie forward, and the RDS Cup as the top rookie overall. He was drafted by Tampa Bay at the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. 

In 2000, he was named captain, making him the youngest captain in NHL history at 19 years and 314 days. During the 2003–04 NHL season, he was named MVP of the Canadian National Team in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, which Canada won. He was chosen to play for Team Canada at the 2006 Olympics.

In 2007, Lecavalier broke the all-time Tampa Bay Lightning record for most points in a season by scoring his 95th point in a match against the Buffalo Sabres.  He was also the first Lightning player to record 50 goals in a season. During the 2007-08 off season, he underwent surgery to repair shoulder and wrist injuries. He also signed an eleven-year contract extension with the Lightning.

In 2013, Lecavalier played in his 1000th NHL game, all with the Tampa Bay Lightning, becoming the 280th NHL player to reach that milestone. After the Lightning bought out the remainder of Lecavalier’s contract, he signed a five-year, $22.5 millon deal with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Vincent Lecavalier was born on April 21, 1980 in Ile Bizard, Quebec, Canada. He studied at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan. He is married to Caroline Portelance, and has two sons.
