Joe Thornton is a Canadian professional ice hockey player with an estimated net worth of $70 million.

Joe Thornton began to play for the St. Thomas Travelers' AA hockey team. The team won the Ontario Minor Hockey Association championship during the 1992-1993 season. Then, in 1993 he joined the AAA Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs, and continued his career until he started playing with the Ontario Hockey League's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

While with the Greyhounds, he earned the Rookie of the Year honor. Upon entering the NHL Entry Draft in 1997, Thornton was selected as the first overall pick by the Boston Bruins.

Thornton stayed with the team until 2005. He was one of the key player for the Bruins. Other teams that he played such as HC Davos and San Jose Sharks.
