Dominik Hasek is a retired Czech ice hockey goaltender for the Ottawa Senators.

Dominik Hasek began playing ice hockey when he joined the HC Pardubice of the Czechslovak Extraliga in 1980. He was drafted by the Czech army to play for the Dukla Jihlava. Also, he was recognized as top ice hockey player in 1987, 1989, and 1990; and as Goaltender of the year between 1986 to 1990.

Prior with his stint to the Czech league, he landed a spot during the 1983 NHL Entry Draft for Chicago Blackhawks. Hasek debuted playing for the team in 1990-91 season.

He stayed with the Blackhawks for two seasons and traded to Buffalo Sabres in 1992.  He was known as The Dominator, Hasek has transferred to other teams such as Detroit Red Wings, and Ottawa Senators.

He led the Red Wings in winning the Stanley Cup in 2002, and 2008. And during his career in NHL, Hasek was recognized in receiving Hart Memorial Trophy, Lester B. Pearson Award, Vezina Trophy, and William M. Jennings Trophy. In 2009, he returned to play for the Pardubice. he considered to rejoin NHL but he announced his retirement on October 9, 2012.

Dominik Hašek was born on January 29, 1965 in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia. He graduated from the University of Hradec Králové and earned a degree in history and Czech language. He is married to Alena Hasek and has two children.
