Dave Manson started his career when he played for the Prince Albert Raiders' junior hockey. In 1985 he was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks as the 11th overall pick during the NHL Entry Draft.

After six seasons with the Blackhawks, he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. Manson eventually moved to several teams such as Winnipeg Jets, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Manson decided to retire playing on ice in 2002. After retirement, he worked as an assistant coach for the Raiders.
