Brad Richards joined Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Rimouski Oceanic. During his last season with the team, he received numerous honors such as Jean Beliveau Trophy, Stafford Smythe Memorial Cup Trophy, and Guy Lafleur Trophy, among others.
He was selected as the third round, 64th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. In 2003-2004 season, the team won the Stanley Cup and Richards received the Conn Smythe Trophy. During the 2004-2005 NHL lockout, he played for the Russian Superleague's Ak Bars Kazan.
Richards also played for other teams such as Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings.
