Douglas is considered as the first woman of color who participated in Gymnastics event, and she is in fact the first African-American who won a gold medal in both team and individual all-around competitions at the same Olympics event.  Gabby Douglas is also part of the gold-winning US team which participated in the 2011 World Championships.

This little artistic gymnast is part of the US Women's Gymnastics Team which participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics held in London. She won gold medals for both team and individual all-around competitions. Her teammates include Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross and Aly Raisman. Unfortunately, Douglas wasn't able to advanced to the final round. Nevertheless, the team won a gold medal.
