Hailed as the first African-American to win an Olympic medal in artistic gymnastics, Dominique Dawes is a retired gymnast who had been a part of the U.S. national gymnastics team for 10 years.

Dawes is part of the Magnificent Seven, a gold medal winning team at the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta. She is the 1994 U.S. all-around senior National Champion, a silver medalist in the World Championships and a three-time Olympian.

Apart gymnastics, Dominique Dawes has pursued a career in television production, acting and modeling. In fact, she has appeared in Prince' music video titled "Betcha By Golly Wow" as well as in Missy Elliott's  "We Run This" where she play the role of the artist's gymnastics coach.

In October 2010, Dawes started working for Yahoo and the investigative arm of CFI  which determined the effectiveness of Power Balance bracelets in improving the strength, balance and flexibility. Results of the investigation reveal that Power Balance doesn't have the capacity to provide such benefits.
