Best known as Coach K, Mike Krzyzewski is a retired American basketball player who currently serves as the head coach of Duke University's basketball team. Mike Krzyzewski receives an annual salary of $4.7 million.
Mike Krzyzewski has been working for Duke since 1980. Since then, he has led the university's team to 11 Final Fours, 13 ACC Tournament championships, 12 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season titles and four NCAA Championships. In addition to being Duke University's basketball team coach, Mike Krzyzewski also serves as the coach of United States men's national basketball team which participated and won in two Olympic events, 2012 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics. In the past, he served as the assistant coach of the 1992 "Dream Team" and he was the head coach of the U.S. team which won the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
In 1986 and 1997, he was named as the Basketball Times National Coach of the Year . He was also a five-time ACC Coach of the Year ((1984, 1986, 1997, 1999, 2000) and three-time Naismith College Coach of the Year (1989, 1992, 1999). When the 2001 season ended, Mike Krzyzewki was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Of Polish ancestry, Mike Krzyzewski was born on February 13, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently married to Carol "Mickie" Marsh. Together, the couple has three children and currently, Carol and Mike have eight grandchildren.
