Harbaugh spent 15 years with the Bears, and then went on to join the Colts. He led the team to an AFC Championship game during the 1995-96 NFL playoffs. His performance earned him the Comeback Player of the Year and AFC Player of the Year awards in 1995. During the 1998 season, he was traded to the Ravens. He later played with the Chargers, and led the team to 8-8 record.

Harbaugh spent a short time with the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers before he switched to coaching. He played as a quarterback coach in 2001 for the Oakland Raiders before he filled the position of head coach at the University of San Diego and Stanford. Currently, he serves as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. He signed a five-year, $25 million contract with the team in 2011.
