Nicknamed “The Nigerian Nightmare,” Samuel Peter is a Nigerian professional heavyweight boxer who has an estimated net worth of $5 million. He is also a former WBC heavyweight champion who lost his first title defence against Vitali Klitschko.

Born Samuel Okon Peter on September 6, 1980 in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, he was originally interested in soccer. In 1992, at the age of 11, he began his boxing career and a successful one for an amateur boxer.

In 2000, Peter got an opportunity to represent Nigeria at the Australia Summer Olympics. Despite losing to Italian Paolo Vidoz by decision in the quarterfinals, his performance was being noted as impressive.

Immediately after the Olympics, Samuel Peter was managed by Ivaylo Gotzev and coached by Andy “Pops” Anderson. They were able to land a promotional deal with Dino Duva of Duva Boxing. As of March 2008, his professional record stands at 30-2 with 23 knockouts.
