Former undisputed world heavyweight boxing champion Buster Douglas has an estimated net worth of $3 million. Born James Douglas on April 7, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio, he is the son of professional boxer William “Dynamite” Douglas. He attended Linden McKinley High School where he played football and basketball. He even led Linden to a Class AAA state basketball championship in 1977. He then played basketball for the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens in Coffeyville, Kansas from 1977 to 1978 where he was the 6 feet power forward. He is included in the Coffeyville Red Ravens Men’s Basketball Hall of Fame. He also played basketball at Sinclair Community College from 1979 to 1980 in Dayton, Ohio before attending Mercyhurst University on a basketball scholarship. He then moved back to Columbus to focus on boxing where he was known as “Dessert Fox” in the community.

Douglas made his boxing debut on May 31, 1981 and defeated Dan O’Malley in a four-round bout. On February 11, 1990, he beat then-undefeated Mike Tyson in ten rounds to capture the undisputed world heavyweight championship in one of pro sports history’s all-time biggest upsets. After boxing, Buster made his feature film acting debut in the Artie Knapp science fiction comedy Pluto’s Plight. He was the star of the video game James “Buster” Douglas Knockout Boxing. He became one of the non-students to be honoured by Ohio State University with the opportunity to dot the “i” during the performance of the Script Ohio by The Ohio State University Marching Band.
