Runner Ben Johnson has an estimated net worth of $2 million. He is probably one of the most controversial athletes of his age. He is an Olympian athlete from Canada who enjoyed the limelight of his career in the 1980s. Throughout his career, he has won 1 gold and 2 bronze Olympic meals, but was later rescinded. The Jamaican-born former sprinter set consecutive 100 meters world records at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics and the 1988 Summer Olympics, but he was disqualified for doping, losing the Olympic title and both records.

In 1988, Ben Johnson was announced to be the awardee for the Canadian Press' Newsmaker of the Year. However, 3 days before the event, he was disqualified after finding out that he was positive for steroids. He was forced to return the gold medal and he admitted that he has been taking steroids since 1981.

In 1991, Johnson attempted to come back but he performed poorly and he was involved in another doping incident which earned him a lifetime ban from sprinting. He decided to retire from being an athlete and in the subsequent years, he coached a number of athletes.

When his sprinting career ended, Johnson had an acting career where he appeared in some advertisements. He was also part of the CBC radio documentary series Rewind with an episode titled Ben Johnson: A Hero Disgraced.
