About Tom Glavine

Former Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed pitcher Tom Glavine has an estimated net worth of $120 million. Born Thomas Michael Glavine on March 25, 1966 in Concord, Massachusetts, he was an excellent student and a letterman in hockey and baseball at Billerica Memorial High School. He was a member of the honor roll and the National Honor Society for four years. He was also named the Merrimack Valley’s Most Valuable Player in hockey.

During the 1984 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft, Glavine was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings. He was the 69th overall pick in the fourth round where he was two rounds ahead of NHL star Brett Hull and five rounds ahead of Luc Robitaille who were both inductees to the 2009 Hockey hall of Fame. He was also picked by the Atlanta Braves in the 2nd round of the 1984 amateur baseball draft. He made his MLB debut on August 17, 1987 when he chose to play baseball.

Tom Glavine served as the pitcher for the Braves from 1987 to 2002 and in 2008 as well as for the New York Mets from 2003 to 2007. He holds the major league record for career starts without making an appearance in relief with 682. He also started 35 post-season games with no relief appearances. Tom also led the National League pitchers in wins in 1991-1993, 1998 and 2000 as well as in games started in 1993, 1996, and 1999-2000. He was a two-time Cy Young Award winner and there is speculation of his election to the Baseball Hall of Fame when he will be eligible in 2014.
