Jim Johnson was selected by the Baltimore Orioles during the 5th round of 2001 MLB Draft. He debuted in the major league in 2006. Two years later, he played for Triple A Norfolk Tides starting rotation but he immediately called by the Orioles.
While with the Orioles, he earned the AL Rolaids Relief Man Award. In 2013, Johnson was traded to Oakland Athletics. After his eight-month stint with the Oakland Athletics, he was released by the team. Meanwhile, he also played with other teams such as Atlanta Braves, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
