Hanley Ramirez is a Dominican baseball player who currently plays in the Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers as the team’s third baseman and shortstop. In 2013, he received a salary of $15.5 million.

In 2005, Ramirez was signed by the Boston Red Sox. Along with Aníbal Sánchez, he was traded to Florida/Miami Marlins in exchange for Guillermo Mota, Mike Lowell, and Josh Beckett. A year later, he was named National League Rookie of the Year. He played for the Marlins until the 2012 season. In 2008, the Marlins signed him to a six-year $70 million contract extension, the most expensive contract ever granted in the history of the Marlins.

Along with Randy Choate, Ramirez was sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 15, 2012 in exchange for Nathan Eovaldi. In addition to his MLB career, Hanley Ramirez was also a part of the US national baseball team which won a gold medal at the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
