Alfonso Soriano is a Dominican former professional baseball player in the Major League Baseball (MLB) and has an estimated net worth of $60 million. Born Alfonso Guilleard Soriano on January 7, 1976 in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, he began his professional career in Japan as he played Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 1996.
Soriano then signed with the New York Yankees as a free agent in 1998 and played in the minor league baseball. He started as an infielder - first as a third baseman and later as a second baseman. After a year, he was named to the All-Star Futures Game and became the most valuable player after hitting two home runs during the game.
In 2004, Alfonso Soriano was traded by the Yankees to the Texas Rangers. However, he was traded by the Rangers to the Washington Nationals by next year. Two years later, he signed an eight-year contract with the Chicago Cubs that is worth nearly $136 million. He led the Cubs the playoffs during his first two years. He was then traded by the Cubs to the Yankees in 2013 for his second stint and was released by the team in 2014.
During his career in the MLB, Soriano was named MLB All-Star seven times while he won the All-Star Game MVP Award in 2004. He was also a four-time recipient of the Silver Slugger Award.
