Considered as UFC's current Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva is a Brazilian Mixed Martial Artist with an estimated net worth of $10 million in 2012. This Brazilian mixed martial artist is known for the outstanding records he made in the world of UFC. Currently, he holds the record for the longest reigning champion and longest winning streak in the history of UFC.

Born on April 14, 1975 in Sao Brazil, Anderson Silva grew up and raised in a poverty stricken family. He first learned Jiu Jitsu from some neighborhood kids. During that time, jiu jitsu was considered as an elite thing in Brazil and for a poor kid like him, he has to deal with the prejudice of his neighbors. Though it wasn't a formal training, Anderson Silva learnt a lot from watching and rolling with the kids. At the age of 12, he began taking taekwondo lesssons and at 16, he started learning muay thai.

Though he is best known with his muay thai skills, Anderson Silva is also recognized as a jiu jitsu black belter. His professional match came in 1997 but his first loss occurred in 2000. After that failure, he succeeded on making a  nine-fight winning streak. He won 6 of them via TKO or submission. From then on, Anderson Silva continued to make his name popular in the world of Mixed Martial Arts, and in sports in general.

He has been named as the Fighter of the Year by some world renowned award giving bodies such as Fight Matrix, FIGHT! Magazine, World MMA and Sports Illustrated.
