Best associated with the National Hockey League Players' Association, Don Meehan is a renowned sports agent who has represented several popular hockey players.
Donald E. Meehan was born on April 10, 1951. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Sir George Williams University. In his final year, he played for the McGill Redmen as the team's wide receiver. He also completed his law degree from the university. After graduation, he started working for Blaney, Pasternak, a Toronto-based law firm.
Along with Pat Morris, Don Meehan co-founded and launched Newport Sports Management Inc, which represented more than 100 NHL players. Unlike other sports management agencies, Don Meehan's style was to hire potential clients before they are even drafted in the NHL. Like Pat LaFontaine, Don Meehan's company hired him before his name was selected into the 1983 NHL Entry Draft.
