The famed Plaza Hotel, featured in such classic films as Almost Famous and Sleepless In Seattle, is apparently a den of sexual predators.
Both former and current female staff members are suing the history hotel alleging that male co-workers repeatedly committed sexual assault against them while on the job, and that hotel management turned a blind eye.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, three current and three former employees, all women, say they have all been the target of unwanted sexual advances, including groping, kissing, and lewd remarks.
Not only did Plaza management ignore their complaints, they even retaliated against them.
Documents describe one instance during which a manager followed one of the female workers into the coat check closet, shut the door, cornered her, and then grabbed her by the waist and forcibly kissed her. Once would have been bad enough, but the documents show this actually happened three times in the same day, each with the woman adamantly refusing his advances. After the third rejection, he then started crying saying: “I don’t understand why you don’t want me.”
That may have been the worst of it, but the complaints don’t stop there. Multiple examples of male coworkers trying to look up female coworker’s skirts exist in the documents, along with comments such as “I can tell you had sex last night,” “I want to taste you,” and “my d**k hurts, I had sex with three girls I met at the bar last night.”
In another instance of unwanted sexual advances, a male coworker approached a woman from behind, grabbed her into his chest and said into her ear that he’d “eat your p***y”.
Perhaps the most bizarre case of sexual harassment involves a cucumber and an unnamed “white sauce”. The male coworker brought the vegetable and unknown condiment to work, and told his female coworker to dip the cucumber in the sauce which “has lots of protein”.
When one woman countered that she was married to stave off an undesirable advance, a male coworker said, “Well, you can’t eat the same food all the time, you have to switch it up sometimes.”
Another case involves a male employee showing the woman a picture of his penis while a second male said, “If you know you’re dressing like that with guys around, you can’t expect a man not to react. I’m a human being, what am I supposed to do?”
The class-action lawsuit against the Plaza is being headed by attorney Andrew Goodstadt, and they’re seeking unspecified damages.
