Once you have acquired your real estate license, you can go out and be an independent agent, or you can try to get a job with a larger firm. Most firms do not pay a base salary, and you are paid strictly off of commissions. You need to make sure that if you want to be a real estate agent you have the work ethic to work for long hours with out making any money at times.

You will want to start out in an area and find your niche. If you are good with selling commercial real estate you should stick with that. If you are better at moving condos, then sell condos.

The question is, how much are you going to make as a real estate agent? The average real estate agent makes about $60,000 dollars a year. This is after a few years of experience though.
